Effingham County Board approves consent agenda including appointments, ARPA adjustments and property purchase

The Effingham County Board approved its consent agenda in a roll-call vote, accepting minutes and officers’ monthly reports, confirming appointments and authorizing several disbursements and capital improvements.

The consent package included appointment recommendations (Dedrick Fire Protection District: Gary Horn; Watson Fire Protection District: Steven Rudolphi; Tri-County Fire Protection District: William Evans; Altamont Fire Protection District: L. Bridal Lustig) and the recommendation to hire a part-time hazardous materials emergency planner, Karen Feldkamp. It also authorized a series of allocations: $9,000 in hotel-motel funds to the Mill Road Thresherman's Association, $9,000 to the Effingham County Fair, return of $11,400 in earmarked childcare research committee gap scholarship funds to ARPA, a $3,040 ARPA allocation for north sidewalk repair at the historic gazebo and courtyard project, $566.32 in capital-improvement funding for health department infrastructure improvements, $3,750 for first-floor window caulking in the county building, and a $300,000 capital disbursement for purchase of property for an Effingham County morgue.

Chairman Josh Douthit asked for any items to be removed from the consent agenda; none were pulled. Commissioner Jeremy Daters moved to approve the consent items; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call. The clerk recorded affirmative votes from commissioners present; the chairman declared the consent agenda adopted.

The board also noted that the health and insurance committee had no items to send and that several legislative and personnel committee recommendations were included in the package.
