Board appoints two trustees to Yale Valley Library District board; one appointment immediate, one scheduled for July

Jennifer Giltrap of Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries and Kathy Wheeler, secretary of the Yale Valley Library District board, described the rural partial library district and requested appointments to the district’s five‑member board.
They explained that the district’s taxing boundary is the Yale precinct, the board of trustees is five members, and trustees must be residents of the district. The district contracts with Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries to provide staff, materials and technology for the Yale Valley Community Library. The presenters said the district’s 2025 levy rate is 29.2975 cents per $1,000 of assessed value and that the district’s revenue for the year is projected at about $175,000.
The district board recommended two appointees: Alyssa Dimecchio and Imelda Ochau. Commissioners appointed Alyssa Dimecchio to fill the current vacancy and agreed to appoint Imelda Ochau to the seat that will open when trustee Kathy Wheeler’s term expires in July. Commissioners noted the applicants’ prior attendance at meetings and recent community engagement.
No changes to county policy, levy rates or the intergovernmental contract with Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries were made; the appointments are for the library‑district trustee positions only.
