County approves temporary crossing at Bridge 531 and authorizes road closures for Race for Hope

Tippecanoe County commissioners on April 21 approved a temporary right-of-entry agreement with SK Land Development to construct a temporary causeway crossing at the new Bridge 531 location on County Road 425, and authorized road closures for a community 5K/10K event on May 31.
Highway department staff described the right-of-entry as necessary to cross Bowes Ditch while constructing an early causeway at Bridge 531. The board approved the temporary access agreement by voice vote.
The board also approved a permit to block or impede streets for the Race for Hope 5K/10K, set for May 31 between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. The route begins and ends at Faith Church and includes crossings at 550 East and through Brookfield Heights and Wildcat Valley subdivisions, plus parts of County Road 50 North. County deputies will staff major road crossings and Faith Church will provide private security and volunteers in subdivisions, county staff said.
Both approvals were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; the transcript records no roll-call tallies. County Highway and the Sheriff's Office are listed as responsible for coordinating traffic control and staffing for the race route.
