Neenah council unanimously confirms Kelly Neiforth as director of community development, starts April 28

Mayor Lang told the council the candidate had passed a comprehensive background check. "The candidate has already passed the complete background check. And I just want to make you aware that background check is the same intensive one that we conduct for all of our department heads," Mayor Lang said, describing credit, criminal, work-history and reference checks and online searches. He told the council that the review had shown "no issues whatsoever." The mayor asked the council to approve the conditional hire because the next council meeting would not be until May 7.
Kelly Neiforth introduced herself and described her ties to the area and her experience. "My family and I, we live in the Neenah area. My children go to the Neenah schools," Neiforth said. She said she has served since 2012 in Oshkosh as director of community development and earlier as manager of economic development, and that she was "so excited to take this opportunity and work for such a wonderful community."
A motion to approve the conditional hiring was made by Alderman Ellis and seconded by Alderman Erickson; the council recorded the motion as passing 9 to 0.
The council recorded no additional conditions in the public record; the mayor said all remaining hiring steps were expected to be complete by early May and the candidate's start date would be April 28.
The council will next meet May 7; the mayor asked the council to act tonight to avoid leaving the position unfilled until then.
