Staff updated the committee on vendor news from Hexagon: the company announced a corporate restructuring that will spin off its public-safety software into a separate business unit. Staff said the change is a corporate reorganization "on paper" and that Hexagon has communicated there will be "no impact on the public safety services, and there'll be no changes to the Cat RMS applications."
Committee members were told leadership changes are underway: Steven Cost, who oversaw an area that included the county’s contacts, is retiring and Bill Campbell will be promoted. Hexagon has also expanded partnerships with technical firms including SDI and has promoted technical staff who previously supported the county.
A staff member who sits on Hexagon’s leadership advisory board said the advisory group received early notice of the announcement and that the vendor previewed the change with large customers before the public announcement.
Ending: Staff said they will continue to provide updates as Hexagon executes the corporate reorganization and that they will monitor any operational implications for the county’s implementations.
