CDBG task orders: Council approved Resolution 25‑124 (packet numbering varied in materials) to ratify Task Orders 3 and 4 with consultant Title‑Basins for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) disaster administration services, in amounts of $163,864.57 and $291,785.90. Town staff said those project management costs are built into the grant awards and do not come from the town’s general fund. The resolution passed unanimously.
Community Redevelopment Agency study: Council adopted a resolution directing staff to begin a study to determine whether conditions exist to support creation of a community redevelopment agency (CRA) for the Times Square area. Staff said the resolution was a precaution because pending state legislation might affect the ability to create new CRAs; the Florida League of Cities was lobbying to remove a proposed ban. The council approved the resolution unanimously.
Why it matters: The town manager extension provides continuity for day‑to‑day operations during a transition; the CDBG task orders fund required project management for federally funded recovery projects; and the CRA study would begin a formal process to evaluate redevelopment tools for Times Square should state law allow new CRAs.
