At its April 21 meeting the Muscatine County Board of Supervisors approved routine permits and minutes, heard project updates from the county engineer and received several staff notices.
Town Engineer Bridal Harshowsky reported on three utility permits from Eastern Iowa Light and Power R.E.C. for new poles and house services; the board approved all three permits by motion and voice vote. Harshowsky also provided project updates: Moscow Road paving closeout activities are complete; the Charlie Avenue project closeout has begun; 120th Street bridge work is scheduled to begin in late April or early May; and microsurfacing work is planned to start May 5.
The board approved the minutes of April 14 as amended. Supervisors also discussed a proposal from community members to place a bench in memory of former county employee Nancy; the board asked staff to discuss possible locations and logistics, including whether a riverfront site would involve the city.
A county trust-department representative notified the board that Social Security will audit 10 trust clients in May and will review records and client interviews; staff said they will report results after the audit. The meeting recessed for a brief closed-session preparation after receiving public comment (none at the time).
