She also reported a separate federal case filed by Wonderful Nurseries in the Eastern District (case 1:24‑cv‑01601‑KES‑KDB), noting the board filed a motion to dismiss on April 7 and Wonderful’s response was due April 29 with a ten‑day reply period for the board.
Laura said Chavez et al. (Kern County Superior Court, case vC‑25‑100649) requires the board’s answer by April 28. She also reported a new federal complaint brought by Greenhouses and the Western Growers Association in the Southern District of California challenging the board’s managed remediation and conciliation (MMC) process; counsel for the plaintiffs is the same legal team that represents Wonderful Nurseries, she said. The board had not yet set a response deadline for that Southern District filing at the time of the report.
