Dickson County commission accepts pavement assessment for TDOT grant, approves school and county budget amendments

The commission also considered a school budget amendment presented by Dr. Sutherland to cover roof work and related items. Dr. Sutherland told commissioners she had provided bids and that two low bids were attached to the materials. County staff clarified that an architecture fee line item of $251,000 had already been amended in the FY 2024 budget; after that adjustment, Dr. Sutherland said the school system was requesting $3,290,955 in total. Commissioners were told the requested funds would come from the schools' fund balance rather than new county revenue. Commissioner Grove moved the budget amendment; Commissioner Gray seconded. The commission approved the amendment by voice vote.
Don Hall, county staff, presented amendments affecting four county funds: the general fund, drug control, highway and community development. Hall said he had adjusted revenue estimates upward in some lines after additional information. Commissioner Beatty moved the motion to adopt those amendments; Commissioner Grove seconded. The commission approved the amendments by voice vote.
Other routine actions approved by voice vote included a resolution described in the transcript as "daylight sheriff's department vehicle, the Watertown Police Department," and a list of notary appointments.
