The Portage City Planning Commission approved a site plan to reconfigure the parking lot and drive-through lanes at the Culver's restaurant at 2733 New Piney Road.
Applicant S and L Properties LLC submitted plans to move the two drive-through lanes to the east, create a new parking area where the current lanes are located (adding five new stalls), reconstruct curbing and relocate a refuge area to the east. The plan shows 65 parking stalls on the property plus additional stalls on an adjoining parcel (3062.06) under a shared parking agreement. Planning staff said the proposal meets city code requirements for the land use and recommended approval subject to recording certified survey maps (CSMs) that staff expects to come before the plan commission next month.
Commissioners and staff discussed the site layout and access points, with staff noting that moving the drive-through lanes to the east should create a straighter circulation pattern from Collins Street and that the redesign keeps parking and circulation compliant with city standards. Jeff Bridal was identified in the record as the principal owner of the related parcels.
A motion to approve the plan subject to the forthcoming CSMs carried on a 5-0 roll call vote.
