The Lake County Education Foundation reported to the board April 14 that it is finalizing scholarships, distributing donated furniture and preparing a slate of fundraising and community events.

Dr. Elizabeth Johnson, reporting for the foundation, told the board the foundation “has awarded $106,162 going to 69 different scholarship recipients” and anticipates awarding seven more scholarships in the coming weeks. She said the foundation has distributed donated furniture from Westgate Resorts to district schools through the warehouse and grounds team.

Johnson outlined upcoming events and engagements: a graduation celebration for 33 graduating seniors from the Take Stock in Children program on April 22; a sold-out Ladies for Education event April 25 at Continental Country Club; and planning for the 2025 Renaissance Fair in early November. She also reported 821 Apple Mart visits this school year, which she said equaled $127,204 in school-supplies value delivered to teachers.

The foundation’s development director is working with teachers and former teacher-of-the-year winners to expand volunteer engagement, classroom-grant reviews and social-media outreach. Board members thanked the foundation staff and volunteers for their support of district programs.
