Stuart, a district finance staff member, told the North Platte Board of Education on April 14 that March brought a significant revenue swing after months of using reserves.
"In March, we received $3,800,000 in state support," Stuart said, adding that the funding increase is tied to state support intended to offset property-tax relief. He walked the board through balance-sheet pages showing that while the district typically draws reserves in January through March, property-tax receipts and state support are shifting the general-fund balance back toward positive territory.
Stuart noted the district's total budget across all funds is about $66.1 million, with the general fund at roughly $52.8 million. He also told the board that current general-fund expenditures are the lowest in five years for comparable months even though payroll and health-insurance costs have risen.
Board members asked about enrollment trends and early graduations; Stuart said enrollment has flattened month to month and that the district would provide a fuller early-graduation report at a future community update. The board heard the financial review to inform budget-preparation work for the 2025–26 fiscal cycle.
The board did not take formal action on the financial report; it was presented for review and planning.
