BROOME, Ala. — The Broome City Council added an agenda item to introduce Rodney Cottrell as the district’s new head football coach and athletic director.

Cottrell, speaking to councilors and attendees, described the community as “blessed” and said he has coached at multiple levels across the country. He referenced the long local history of T.R. Miller football and brought up former local coaches by name: “Coach Ridge, Coach Baker, and Eddie Brundage.” He said the returning players “play hard and work hard,” acknowledged last season’s player turnover and said he hopes to rebuild in spring practice and get players to games this year.
Cottrell also credited his own high-school coach, saying “I am a coach today because of Frank Cott. He was my high school coach.” He invited questions and said community members know how to contact him.
