LTISD notifies board of districtwide agreement to adopt IXL learning platform

Instructional technology coordinator Anna Catherine Alves and director Kathy Burbank said the C&I and campus instructional coaches piloted IXL at multiple campuses and that the platform provides diagnostic assessments, adaptive practice, weekly reporting capabilities, and analytics that align reasonably well with MAP (approximately an 80% correlation cited). Alves said the purchase was negotiated to provide cost efficiencies and to unify district data tools across K–12.
Burbank said IXL offers substantially more ongoing classroom and skill‑level data than the district’s previous assessment mix; administrators said they expect richer weekly reporting for teachers and leaders. Staff noted IXL’s improved TEKS alignment compared with older versions used piecemeal by some campuses and said the platform will be used intentionally to support small‑group instruction, MTSS progress monitoring and instructional coaching.
The presentation characterized the first year as having higher initial costs with lower subsequent renewal rates; staff gave trustees sample reports and asked for no immediate board action beyond formal notification required under policy CH local.
