Tyler Doss of Doss Brothers briefed the Lawrence County School Board on construction progress at the Summertown High School football stadium on April 17, saying crews are completing site work and structural phases with the goal of finishing before the fall football season.
Doss reported that light poles had been moved and would be installed next week, irrigation work and soil stabilization were two weeks out, and crews were finishing straw matting, topsoil and concrete rings around catch basins. He said block work is about two weeks from completion and that trusses are scheduled for delivery at the end of the month; roofing crews will follow truss installation.
"Lots is gonna happen in the next couple of months," Doss told the board. "We're on track... even if it is not 100% finished, we may be in there working while you're having the first football game, but we will have it done."
Doss said conduits and infrastructure for scoreboards and other systems were laid and that setting foundations for scoreboard poles and other electrical work remained. Board members asked about lead times for scoreboards and whether the contractors could adjust installation timing; Doss said the district’s scoreboard order is arriving in coming weeks and crews will set posts and complete the final installations in time.
Director Atkins and board members said they will continue weekly coordination among contractors and school staff to monitor progress and sequencing so that the field and stadium are usable for fall athletics.
