Members at a Thursday SVRCS charter renewal meeting voted unanimously to renew the Sugar Valley Charter School charter.
A motion to renew the charter was approved in an 8-0 roll call vote after brief discussion. Board member Elizabeth praised the Sugar Valley Group that operates the school, saying, “They were very wonderful to work with. I had a really great experience just being able to watch the whole procedure, and I just wanna let you know I am voting for this. I think they've done a really good job.” She also said she would have liked to see approval for 20 additional students: “I did approve, and I wanted to see 20 more students for them. So I'm not gonna vote no. I'm definitely gonna vote yes, but I just wanna go on record that I wanted them to have the 20 additional students.”
The meeting recorder confirmed there were eight members voting in favor and no votes against or abstentions. No members of the public signed up for public comment, and the board adjourned shortly after the vote.
The renewal keeps the Sugar Valley Charter School in operation under its current charter terms as recorded in the meeting; no other changes to the charter or conditions were discussed on the record.
