Lexington City Council voted unanimously on April 17, 2025, to appoint Ben Thurman to the Economic Development Authority (EDA) for a four-year term starting May 1, 2025, and ending April 30, 2029.
The council chair introduced Thurman’s application and noted he is an attorney who applied for the open seat after George Graves chose not to seek reappointment. Councilmember Driscoll moved to appoint Thurman and a second was recorded; a roll-call vote followed with Councilmembers Smith, Betts, Driscoll, Strachan, Ziegler and Alexander voting “aye.” The mayor announced the motion carried unanimously.
No additional discussion or conditions were recorded; the appointment fills the EDA vacancy and the appointee will assume duties at the start of the term on May 1.
