The Omaha City Council on Monday approved a slate of liquor licenses, subdivision plats, rezones and special assessments in a string of unanimous votes.
The council voted 7-0 to approve new and amended liquor licenses for businesses including First Round (2829 S. 180th St.), Harold’s Bar (8558 Blondo St.), the Hollows (5019 Underwood Ave.), Meadowlark Lounge (3302 Leavenworth St.), Unity Seafood (7605 Cass St.), EarlyBird (Village Pointe), Martini Nails and Spa (1008 S. 70th Plaza), Revival House (3710 Harney St.), NP Mart 19 (7166 N. 30th St.) and other establishments listed on the agenda. Several licenses included minor amendments to outdoor-area dimensions or waivers; one license group included an amendment to an application’s outdoor-dimensions before final approval.
The council also approved a revised preliminary plat for Pine Creek Woods (item 16), a package of rezones and plats for the Drews Hill / Y Street townhomes project (items 17–21), and a Carnation Place tax‑increment financing (TIF) redevelopment plan (item 22). Multiple agenda items were handled on the consent calendar and passed as a block.
Where roll calls were recorded, the votes were recorded as: Hugg — yes; Johnson — yes; Melton — yes; Roe — yes; Begley — yes; Harding — yes; Mr. President — yes. Several items were considered together for efficiency (for example items 17–21 were considered in a single sequence and then voted on), and in several cases the council approved an amendment then the main motion (for example item 11 included an amendment to outdoor-area dimensions prior to final approval).
Not all matters before the council resulted in final votes. The council held public hearings — without taking final action at this meeting — on items including a zoning code amendment to allow kennel uses in additional industrial districts and an interim funding agreement related to the convention center expansion; those items were discussed and may return for vote at a later meeting.
