A board member moved to hire Brian Ashen, saying, “I move to, have hire Brian Ashen for a 3 year contract, starting 07/01/2025, the starting salary of 130,000.” A board member seconded the motion, and the board recorded affirmative votes. On behalf of the board, a member read a statement thanking outgoing Superintendent Megan Christiansen for her service: “Megan cares deeply about our children and this valley. She has been an exceptional leader in our school district and the community. Superintendent Christiansen has overseen many improvements to our district, and her leadership will be missed.” The statement said Christiansen served as principal of Tetonia Elementary Schools and as superintendent for the past two years.
Board members said the superintendent search was initiated March 12 and advertised for three weeks on national, regional and local outlets. McPherson & Jacobson conducted background checks and reference checks, and the firm determined five applicants did not meet the district’s qualifications and one withdrew, leaving three finalists. The board said it used materials and processes from the firm’s 2023 search to expedite the current selection.
District officials said a public meet-and-greet with Ashen will be scheduled in the coming weeks so stakeholders can hear his vision and provide feedback; no date was specified. After the hire and the statement of thanks to Christiansen, the board moved to adjourn.
