Commission approves smaller Main Street lot resurfacing with street-tree requirement

Planning staff reiterated the same code provisions applied to the larger lot: resurfacing above 500 square feet triggers landscaping-point requirements. Laura Griggs recommended prioritizing street trees between the sidewalk and the curb where space allows and using other landscaping-point alternatives where necessary.
A commissioner noted it would be sensible to combine landscaping points for both lots on the agenda to maximize the number of street trees. Griggs and staff recommended limiting street trees to avoid overcrowding in narrow strips and selecting species from the approved street-tree list.
The motion approving the 809 West Main application required the applicant to meet minimum parking-space sizes and drive-aisle widths, ensure ADA spaces as described in the staff report and install street trees along Main Street with details to be agreed with staff. Commissioner Saru seconded the motion; the motion passed.
