Why it matters: The agreement affects classified employees across the district, including security and nutrition staff. Speakers from employee groups addressed the board earlier in the meeting in support of negotiations and urged the board to approve the agreement.
Public comment and context
A representative speaking for CSEA urged the board to approve the agreement and singled out security and nutrition services staff for recognition, saying their members worked ‘‘countless hours’’ and asking the board to vote yes. Associated Chino Teachers (ACT) director Steven Frazier also addressed the board earlier with remarks about priorities for instructional staffing and negotiations; ACT urged caution about measures the union said could invite costly litigation.
