The Osceola County Board of Supervisors approved donating a 20-year-old May City ambulance to the Ocetan Fire Department, a local nonprofit.
County staff member Rochelle explained the vehicle is old, will require inspection and continued insurance if the county retained it, and has limited value for county operations. Because the recipient is a nonprofit, Rochelle said a public-bid process is not required. The board made and supported a motion to approve the donation (mover Helmers; support from Jeff Loring) and recorded the vote as approved.
Rochelle said the ambulance will benefit the Ocetan Fire Department for highway and standby use and that the county’s intent is to transfer the vehicle rather than continue to incur inspection and insurance costs.
The board’s motion authorizes staff to transfer the May City ambulance to the Ocetan Fire Department and to complete the administrative steps necessary for the donation.
