Sandy Springs to add audible buttons and exclusive pedestrian phase at Roswell Road and Lake Placid Drive

Sandy Springs city staff announced a signal-improvement project at the intersection of Roswell Road and Lake Placid Drive that will install audible push buttons, restripe the crosswalk and add an exclusive pedestrian crossing phase for the north crosswalk. Crews will close a lane on Lake Placid Drive while work is underway.

City staff described the area as a high-traffic corridor for both vehicles and pedestrians and said the upgrades aim to improve safety and predictability for people crossing the intersection. The most significant change will be an exclusive pedestrian crossing phase for the north crosswalk, meaning motorists will be stopped in all directions while pedestrians use that crosswalk.

Planned physical changes include audible push-button devices to assist visually impaired pedestrians and new pavement markings through restriping. The announcement said the work will require a temporary lane closure on Lake Placid Drive at Roswell Road while crews complete the improvements.
