The applicant, identified in the meeting as David Namkin, said the hub would let residents retrieve packages 24 hours a day and would reduce packages being left in building hallways. "The Amazon hub serves to collect packages instead of having the packages get piled up in the hallways of each building," Namkin said.
City staff noted the hub currently on site had lighting that exceeded the residential color-temperature limit cited in the staff report; staff said the hub’s internal light will be rendered inoperable and the existing pole lighting will be used for illumination, and that those limitations will be a condition tied to permitting. The staff presentation also said the existing hub was previously installed without a site-plan permit; the applicant relocated the unit and is now seeking formal approval and the required permits.
