Board approves guaranteed maximum price for Murray High and early bid package for Riverview

The Murray School District Board of Education voted to approve a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) of $21,783,799 for the Murray High School construction project and separately approved Bid Package 2 for Riverview Junior High in the amount of $15,242,256.

District staff said the Murray High GMP includes an alternate to replace and upgrade building mechanical controls identified as needing urgent repair. Scott Tagger and representatives from the district and contractor teams told the board the project remained within the original construction budget after competitive bidding, reporting multiple bidders in key trades.

For Riverview, the board approved an early bid package covering earthwork, utilities, footings and foundations so on-site work can begin while final design and remaining trade bids continue. Staff said the early start is necessary to meet the district’s targeted completion window and that the pricing came in below or near internal projections for the scopes bid.

Board members made the motions and the chair called the voice votes; no roll-call tally was read into the record at the meeting. Contractors named in the presentations included Hogan Construction (Murray High scope) and Hughes General Contractors (Riverview earthwork package). District staff said competitive interest from contractors and favorable bidding windows contributed to the pricing.

The board president asked staff to continue monitoring cost and schedule risks as the projects proceed to construction and to return with updates as procurement and closeout milestones occur.

The board approved both items during the business portion of the meeting.
