Panel recommends Columbia Valley Center for Recovery logo after committee vote

A communications subcommittee presented logo and brand concepts for the Columbia Valley Center for Recovery on April 16 and recommended a final design that uses rolling-hill and river imagery, warm colors and a three-leaf icon intended to represent hope and recovery.

Katie Duval, communications coordinator (Benton County), described the committee's discovery and design process, its competitive analysis of other recovery centers in Washington and Oregon, and the decision criteria — warmth, accessibility and a visual connection to the Columbia Valley landscape. The committee narrowed several designs to three concepts and held a written vote; Duval said a majority favored the option being recommended to the board.

Duval and committee member Kyle Sullivan walked commissioners through mockups showing the logo on business cards, letterhead, monument signage and the building exterior. County officials asked a few clarifying questions about font choices and an icon variation; commissioners expressed preference for the three-leaf icon rather than a two-leaf version because committee members believed three leaves better conveyed the intended symbolism.

No formal county vote on the branding was recorded in the meeting transcript; the presentation concluded with the committee asking for the commissioner's support to move forward with implementation planning and touch-point strategy once the logo is approved.
