The Bradley County Planning Commission approved a six‑lot preliminary plat for Country Meadows Drive, three separate rezoning requests to correct parcels to industrial zoning, and a set of updated subdivision regulations during its meeting. Each item passed on a recorded roll-call vote with all participating commissioners in favor.
The preliminary plat for Country Meadows Drive covers a proposed six‑lot subdivision. County planner Bentley explained that because the proposal creates six lots, a preliminary plat is required before final platting. "This this is a simple preliminary plat for a 6 lot subdivision," Bentley said. Commissioners voted to approve the preliminary plat; the roll call recorded nine affirmative votes.
Three rezoning requests were approved after brief explanations from staff and applicants. Mitchell Kinder, representing the Tri‑State warehouse interest, asked the commission to correct a parcel that had been listed as C‑1 (commercial) in the county's 1999 zoning adoption though it had been used for industrial warehousing. "We are just trying to get it to what it should have been all along," Kinder said. Commissioners voted to reclassify that parcel to the proper industrial zoning.
A separate rezoning request for property identified in the record as Shay's rental properties (off North Lee Highway) sought to change a small area from rural residential (R‑1) to general industrial; staff said the rear 200 feet of the parcel had been used commercially and the owners want the entire parcel zoned consistently for office and rental‑property business use. That rezoning was approved on a recorded vote.
A third rezoning request for a parcel on Water Level Highway submitted by Don Jacobson likewise moved the property from rural/residential classification to general industrial because surrounding parcels are zoned industrial or commercial and the property has long been used for industrial purposes. The commission approved that request as well.
Commissioners also approved a revised set of subdivision regulations. Bentley described the substantive change as moving road‑construction responsibilities and related processes from the planner's office to the Road Department, reflecting that the county no longer maintains an in‑office county engineer. "We went through the subdivision regulations...we've changed those in a way that shows that [the Road Department] is responsible for it now and not my office," Bentley said. The clean version of the revised regulations was presented and the commission voted to adopt the changes.
All formal votes recorded during the meeting were unanimous among members present. After the votes the chair closed the meeting and signed the adopted documents.
