District 94 recognizes students for statewide awards, scholarship and extracurricular honors

The Community High School District 94 Board of Education opened its April meeting by recognizing student achievements across academics, career and technical education and extracurricular programs.
West Chicago Community High School named Addison Jeffrey its March Student of the Month. School staff described Addison as a four‑year academic leader with a 5.5 GPA, membership in multiple honor societies and extensive extracurricular involvement; she plans to attend Xavier University and major in biomedical sciences.
The board also celebrated ProStart and culinary successes: Eileen Mondragon was part of a first‑place state champion culinary team that will advance to the 2025 National ProStart Invitational in Baltimore, and Josephina Thomas won second place in a cupcake competition at the Illinois ProStart Invitational.
Valeria (spelled 'Valerie' in the packet) Salinas, a senior, was named a 2025 Dell Scholar and will receive a scholarship package that includes a $20,000 award and additional supports. The drama program (We Go Drama) qualified for the IHSA state finals after winning its sectional; cast members Antoine Angeles, Will Cooper, Matthew Krasinski and Caden McDougall were named to the IHSA all‑star cast.
The school’s student groups — including journalism, creative writing and NHS — reported competition honors and ongoing community service as the year winds down.
The board placed these recognitions in the meeting's 'good news' section and offered congratulations to students and staff.
