The African American Equity Restoration Task Force heard an update on an Arts Pathway grant and discussed sponsorship procedures at its April 14 meeting, but members delayed formal action because the group lacked a full membership roll call.
A presenter said the Arts Pathway grant process recently included a panel discussion and that $25,000 is intended for one organization listed in the meeting notes as “drums up, guns down.” The presenter said the panel went well and the committee is awaiting a formal response.
Members also reported that the investment committee revised the sponsorship-request form (kept in a red folder) and discussed a rubric and launch plans. The package presented to the task force included a sponsorship request from a program called Apex, described as a leadership program aimed at people of color; committee members said they would like to process that request out of the current budget if possible and hoped to complete the approval before July. The group discussed whether the investment committee or the full task force must approve sponsorships and how an in-person copy should be distributed for approval.
Separately, members discussed term-renewal nominations for task-force seats: the transcript lists Gwen Anderson and a person named Dave for second-term renewal starting in June. Members noted that city-council approval is required and that the task force could not vote at the meeting because a council liaison (Councilwoman Gwen McKenzie) was not present; the nominations discussion was tabled for a future meeting.
Ending: No formal votes or funding awards were recorded at the meeting; sponsorship requests and appointment renewals will return for action when quorum and council approvals are available.
