The Streator City Council approved Resolution 2025-17 to award a contract for the 2025 East Main Street Sewer project to Aberman Construction of Pontiac, Illinois.
City staff described the work as installing an 8-inch sewer main from Trinity Drive at Main Street north and east to Center Street to serve several homes currently without sewer service, and to extend service to areas outside the city where potential extensions were identified. Staff also said the Central Church of Christ — which received a sewer line stub 25 years ago but was not connected under the road — will be connected as part of the project to support a planned remodel.
Staff reported the city received a single bid for the work and noted prior experience with the contractor. The project is scheduled to start later this summer and continue into the fall. The council approved the resolution by roll call; members recorded aye votes.
The city did not present a project budget breakdown at the meeting; staff said it will coordinate timing and noted the line runs out to Airport Road on earlier work on North Main Street. No public comment was recorded for the item at the meeting.
