Service department to replace plow truck, buy mowers and attachments within budget

"Overall looking to spend, like Daryl was mentioning, about a hundred and $12,000," Jake said when describing the plow chassis and outfitting costs.
The packet lists a Ford F-550 chassis from Coglin Ford of Pataskala priced at about $71,000 and an outfitting package from Zaresco at about $44,000, producing a combined chassis-and-outfit cost in the $112,000–$115,000 range. Staff said buying a matching model maintains fleet consistency, simplifies parts inventories and reduces driver-training friction.
For mowing and right-of-way work, staff proposed purchasing two John Deere Z930M riding mowers at about $13,000 each (with a trade-in on one older mower), a three-point rear-discharge attachment for compact mowers to replace an overdue unit, a John Deere brush cutter for the mini excavator (about $9,000) for ground clearing up to 4-inch diameter material, and a compactor attachment for the mini excavator (about $5,700) for subgrade compaction and small asphalt repairs.
Staff told the committee the planned purchases fit within the amounts the council approved in the capital budget and that the department expects a small remaining balance in the mowing line. The service director also noted the department will take on additional acreage, including Town Hall and the Administration Building lawns, and will continue a fertilization/aeration agreement with First Impressions.
Committee members asked about snow-and-ice responsibilities on newly annexed roads abutting State Route 37. Staff said ownership changes after annexation but that the city currently coordinates with the Ohio Department of Transportation, which typically continues to plow the state route and apply salt until maintenance responsibility formally transfers.
No purchase contracts were signed at the meeting; staff said they plan to proceed with the purchases under the approved capital budget.
