Obraske also said the city awarded a separate cleaning and televising contract for the Cheshire Ditch sanitary sewer line to FAPE Corp; that work began the week of the meeting and was expected to be completed by the end of that week unless weather caused a short delay.
On the Walnut Street stabilization project, Obraske showed council photographs of ongoing soil‑nail installation used to shore the creek bank. She said the construction contract is approximately $590,000 and that soil‑nail elements of the work involve rebar arms up to 20 feet in length; the next step is applying shotcrete or concrete to the nailing to stabilize the wall. She said the contractor hopes to have the portion of Walnut Street reopened and paved by July 4, subject to progress meetings and schedule checks.
The Cheshire Road lift station project was discussed in reading as an ordinance (second reading) awarding construction; Obraske's work on televising and cleaning the sanitary line is intended to optimize conditions at that location before or during construction. Council did not take final action on the Cheshire Road construction award at this meeting (it remained at second reading).
