The board voted to close the public hearing and hold the decision open while applicants and staff work with the Department of Environmental Control and the project engineer on groundwater and foundation issues.
Joseph Costantino, attorney for the applicant, said the property owner proposes a medical office building to be occupied by Long Island Comprehensive offering internal medicine, podiatry and cardiology. Costantino said the facility would not perform surgery and that a pharmacy on site would be limited to patients, not a public retail pharmacy.
