The Planning and Land Development Regulation Commission opened its April 17 meeting with officer elections and housekeeping. Commissioners elected Ronnie Mills as chair, Edith Shelley as secretary and Frank Costa as vice chair; votes were recorded by voice and the board approved the slate.
Why it matters: The commission's internal organization determines chairing of hearings and who speaks on behalf of the panel during procedural matters.
Commissioners also used the end of the meeting to raise procedural issues: several members reported not receiving printed or mailed agenda packets. Scott Ashley (Zoning Manager acting as interim contact for PLDRC support) said packets are available electronically and staff will make a hard packet available on the morning of meetings if requested; staff committed to circulate updated contact information for the commission's support staff.
Next steps: Staff agreed to email new contact details and to make meeting packets available to commissioners; this is a housekeeping matter for PLDRC operations.
