Committee forms golf-tournament subcommittee to fundraise for veterans monument

The Miami Lakes Veterans Committee voted to form a subcommittee to plan a golf tournament to raise funds for a veterans monument, and named Vice Chair Borman as chair of that subcommittee.

The idea was suggested as a fundraising approach that had worked for other organizations; members discussed timing, venue options and sponsorship approaches. The motion to create the subcommittee and appoint the vice chair as its leader passed by voice vote. Members discussed options to approach local courses, secure reduced green fees or sponsorships, and noted the event would require a planning timeline and outreach to potential corporate sponsors.

Committee members asked for volunteers to serve on the subcommittee and directed staff to record the group and report back with an initial plan and timeline. The committee will consider venue options, sponsorship packages and estimated net proceeds before approving any event or budget commitments.
