City Administrator Amber Powers briefed the Papillion City Council on April 15 about agency and city events and scheduling: an interceptor commissioning ceremony for the sewer agency is set for June 9 at 2 p.m. at the Springfield Lift Station (Highway 50 south of Ploog Road), the sewer agency’s fiscal year runs July–June and the agency board will adopt its FY2025–26 budget before individual jurisdictions must adopt their portions at city meetings in May.
Powers said staff is planning a 2025 council retreat for early June, likely at the Natural Resources District (NRD) building and that staff would reach out to council members about available dates. She also announced the city’s Arbor Day celebration at 1 p.m. April 25 at Prairie Queen Recreation Area, noting it will include a memorial theme and remarks by Jim Meyer of the Memorial Foundation. Powers reminded the public of Coffee with a Cop on April 21 from 8:30–10:30 a.m. at Café Diem.
Powers recognized the Mayor’s Youth Council for volunteer work supporting recent city events, and noted Papillion Foundation leadership transition after Joe Hunter’s resignation and continued coordination with the foundation board. No formal action was taken on these administrative items; they were informational updates to the council.
