During the pre-meeting a Third Ward resident raised a question about fiber-optic connectivity on Timberglint Drive West, saying the neighborhood currently has only one high-speed provider at that address.
A council member noted prior provider announcements and said they would respond to the resident. “Three years ago, Consolidated said, Vibee and their cable their fiber company was coming. And I see the Vibee and trucks all around,” the council member said, describing observed activity. Another participant said Consolidated is not offering cable in parts of the borough, prompting use of Xfinity for Internet streaming.
One council member reported receiving a promotional 2-year offer for higher speeds and said there are reports that Xfinity is adding fiber in the neighborhood. Staff said they will draft a response to the resident summarizing what providers have communicated and what the borough has observed.
No formal municipal action or official franchise discussion occurred at the pre-meeting; members treated the item as a constituent inquiry and informational update.
