MSD Wabash County Schools holds public hearing on superintendent contract; board approves HR report naming Dr. Chris to start July 1, 2025

The MSD Wabash County Schools Board of Trustees opened a public hearing on the superintendent employment contract and closed it with no public comment before approving an HR report that lists “Doctor Chris” as superintendent, effective July 1, 2025.

Board members said the hearing was required by state law and was advertised in the Indiana Plain Dealer and on the district website. “By law, we have to have a public hearing related to [the] superintendent contract,” a board member said during the meeting.

The hearing notice and a summary were posted online; district staff noted the full contract summary was available on the district website so the district did not place a longer, more expensive advertisement. After the hearing closed, the board approved the HR report that included a personnel item reading in the meeting transcript as: “Doctor Chris ****, superintendent, for our school district, effective 07/01/2025.” The board approved the HR report by voice vote; no opposition was recorded on the record.

Because the hire appeared as an item within the HR report, the board’s recorded action was the approval of that report rather than a separate roll-call vote specifically naming the contract terms. The hearing record on the public notice and the HR report are the materials the board identified during the meeting.

The board did not take other formal action during the hearing; no public commenters used the hearing period to address the contract.
