Council confirms two board appointees, defers two others; several nominations made

The Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County confirmed two appointees and deferred two others during its regular meeting.
Council members voted to confirm Brian Pettis to the Emergency Communications District (E-911) and Amy Harden to the Fire, Building and Code Appeals Board. The confirmations were made by voice vote after the committee reports and without recorded roll-call tallies. The council president announced both confirmations after members voted “aye.”
The council also considered reappointments to the Work Release Board. The reappointments of Ron Parham and Father Edward Shiner were deferred one meeting following a committee recommendation. Council rules require certain nominations to be deferred; the clerk will record the deferrals and the individuals are expected to return for the next meeting’s confirmation process.
Separately, council members placed a series of nominations to various boards and authorities. Nominations announced on the floor included Germaine Cole to the Human Relations Commission; Joy Stiles to the Cheatham County Rail Authority; Erin Evans to the Nashville and Eastern Rail Authority; and Sarah Martin, Bob Braswell and Roger Ligon for openings on the Procurement Standards Board. The clerk will follow up with nominees to collect required information for future consideration.
The administration and council staff said no votes were taken on nominations during this portion of the agenda other than for deferrals and confirmations required by rule.
