Junior high near completion; board approves $75,763 reduction in CTE building cost

Magnolia ISD construction staff updated the board that Mac Junior High is essentially complete and staff expect to issue substantial completion and turn over the building to the district around May 1, with furniture delivery scheduled to begin May 15.
Mr. Brunner, the district’s construction presenter, walked trustees through images of finished spaces including the library, cafeteria, learning stairs and athletic corridors. He said owner training for building systems is scheduled over the next month and summer work will continue on other renovations such as a newly purchased curriculum/administration building and JROTC space.
During the same meeting the board approved a final change order for the CTE Health and Concession Buildings at Magnolia High School that reduced the guaranteed maximum price by $75,763. The original GMP had been $3,126,349; the approved final amount is $3,050,586, and staff said the savings were primarily unspent allowances.
Motion to approve the final change order decreasing the guaranteed maximum price for the CTE Health and Concession Buildings by $75,763 was made by David McCarty, seconded by Jordan Blake; the motion passed.
