Board approves shifting Heron Run homes into Audubon Elementary attendance zone

The Magnolia ISD Board of Trustees approved a revision to elementary attendance zones that will move the Heron Run portion of the Audubon subdivision out of Williams Elementary’s zone and into Audubon Elementary effective with the 2025–26 school year.
Dr. King, a district planning staff member, told trustees Heron Run is part of the Audubon subdivision and is expected to build in phases during 2025–26. District demographers estimated Heron Run would yield roughly 50 students in the first year; staff said the shift would help relieve Williams Elementary, one of the district’s largest elementary campuses.
Dr. King said keeping neighborhoods intact and sending a single subdivision to the same school is a standard district practice. Trustees asked about near-term enrollment and logistics; staff replied that Audubon is slated to open with about 600 students next year and moving Heron Run’s projected students would not create an untenable enrollment spike.
Motion to approve the attendance-zone revision for Williams and Audubon Elementary Schools was made by Jay Michaels, seconded by Sonia Veil; the motion passed.
