County Administrator Jeremy presented a proposed technology overlay district and the executive committee voted to forward petition 25-PC-79 to the April County Board agenda.
Jeremy said the overlay is intended to fill a gap in county zoning for “technology and data driven” projects and listed uses such as research and development centers and modular nuclear projects. He said Alice and the state attorney’s office helped draft the proposal.
The motion to move petition number 25-PC-79 to the April County Board agenda was made by Nancy Naylor and seconded by Board Member Friel. Committee members voted in favor and the motion carried.
The petition seeks to amend the text of Title 10, Chapter 8 of the Lee County Code of Ordinances to create standards for a technology overlay district; details of specific zoning standards were not discussed on the record at the committee meeting.
The petition will appear on the County Board agenda and will also proceed through the zoning process as required by county code. Related zoning petitions listed on the committee agenda (several by Pivot Energy and others) will be handled by the zoning and planning process; those petitions were read into the record but not debated at length in this meeting.
