Authority hires easement firm, authorizes purchases of two easements after executive session

The Spalding County Water and Sewage Facilities Authority on April 16 approved a master services agreement to continue easement acquisition work with the firm handling current sewer-plant easements. Staff said the company will handle additional easements needed for the 20-inch water main and other alignments; the board noted roughly 25 parcels may be involved.

After an executive session the board authorized the general manager to sign agreements to purchase two construction and maintenance easements: tax map 218-02001Delta, approximately 1.19 acres for $21,420; and tax map 217-01004Echo, approximately 0.63 acres for $11,340. The first purchase passed 7-0; the second passed 6-0 (one member absent for that vote). Staff said the contracts will be recorded after execution and that most easement acquisition costs for specific parcels will be reimbursed by the contracting entity where applicable.

Board members said using a single easement services firm helps coordinate closing schedules and avoids duplicative work between sewer engineers and other project teams.
