Christian County proclaims days for Chadwick boys and girls state basketball champions

The proclamations, read at the start of the commission meeting by Presiding Commissioner Lynn Morris, recognized the girls’ 28–4 season and the boys’ 23–7 season and cited teamwork, sportsmanship and community pride. "This commission is the first time in the history of our county that I can find that has ever taken the initiative to laminate these proclamations," Morris said as she described the presentation.
The commission asked the girls’ and boys’ teams and coaches to come forward for photos and brief remarks. Jim Pendergrass, introduced as coach of the girls team, thanked the commission: "Commissioner, thank you for recognizing our team and our community today. Thank you very much. We appreciate it greatly. Congratulations, ladies." Head coach Sean Garen was introduced for the boys team.
Both teams received applause from commissioners and visitors and posed together for group photographs in the commission chamber. Commissioners described the event as a celebratory way to begin the meeting and encouraged students and families to share the video of the presentation, which commissioners said is broadcast live on the county’s YouTube channel and archived on the Christian County website.
The proclamations were ceremonial; no county policy or financial action accompanied the recognitions.
