The City of Santa Fe on Jan. 9 approved a nine‑month concessionary agreement with Santa Fe Little League to use and maintain the baseball facilities at Runge Park, a property the city acquired from Galveston County in September 2024.
Community Services Director Georgia said the agreement mirrors the prior arrangement the league had with the county: the Little League will assume most maintenance responsibilities and pay for utilities, and will provide monthly updates to staff on enrollment, facility use and finances. The nine‑month term — through Sept. 30, 2025 — will allow the city and the league to track electricity usage, maintenance costs and revenue before negotiating a longer multiyear contract.
Under the agreement the Little League will provide a schedule and field‑rental information to the city so staff can coordinate city use of the park. Georgia said the city will not unilaterally rent the fields over the league’s scheduled use, but the city retains authority to approve rentals to ensure equitable access.
Council moved and seconded approval; roll call passed the agreement. Georgia also said staff had been informed that Texas Parks and Wildlife funding could provide approximately $506,000–$600,000 for renovations to the rodeo arena, livestock pavilion, parking, community center and baseball fields at Runge Park.
