District recognizes PTA/PTSA Notables for family and community engagement
Summary
Hillsborough County Public Schools and the Hillsborough County PTA honored PTA and PTSA groups for implementing family–school partnership standards and named several notable schools and an honorable mention.
Sandra Masi (identified in the presentation as the supervisor of family and community engagement) and Kimberly McDonough, president of the Hillsborough County Council PTA/PTSA, presented the PTA Notables recognition during the April 15 board meeting.
Presenters described the initiative as a collaboration between the district’s Division of Student, Family and Community Engagement and the Hillsborough County PTA to honor PTA and PTSA units that exemplify national PTA standards for family–school partnerships and district family engagement indicators. The program recognizes transparent communication, inclusive decision-making and creative engagement strategies.
Several PTA and PTSA units were named as recipients, including Ballast Point Elementary School PTA, Boyette Springs Elementary School PTA, Lutz K–8 PTSA, Newsome High School PTSA and Robinson High School PTSA. Presenters also gave an honorable mention to Madison Middle School for emerging family engagement efforts. Winners were called forward for photographs; no board actions were taken on the recognition.
Presenters emphasized that family engagement supports student outcomes and praised volunteers and PTA/PTSA leaders for their work.
