Hillsborough honors outstanding school volunteers during National Volunteer Month

Monica Narayan, coordinator of the Mentoring Collaborative, presented awards recognizing outstanding school volunteers as part of the April 15 Hillsborough County School Board recognition meeting.
Narayan framed the recognition around National Volunteer Month and thanked volunteers for activities including tutoring, mentoring, organizing events and fundraising that support classrooms and student experiences across the district.
The district presented three volunteer awards in separate categories: the youth category went to Ethan Morgan (Plant High School), the adult category to Jill Rental (Newsome High School) and the senior division award to Carol Shepherd (Tampa Bay Technical High School). Narayan invited winners forward for photographs and thanked volunteers for their contributions to school communities.
The recognition was ceremonial; the board did not take formal action on the item.
