Hillsborough Alliance of Black School Educators honors Black History Brain Bowl champions

The Hillsborough Alliance of Black School Educators and district partners recognized winners of the 2025 Black History Brain Bowl across elementary, middle and high school divisions.
Keisha Parham, representing the Hillsborough Alliance of Black School Educators (HAPSI), presented recognition for the 2025 Black History Brain Bowl at the April 15 school board meeting.
Parham said more than 100 schools participated in the event, which HAPSI runs in partnership with Hillsborough County Public Schools, the Hillsborough County African American History Task Force and the Hillsborough Education Foundation. The competition requires students to study Black history and compete through site-based qualifying rounds and a district tournament.
Winners named during the recognition included elementary, middle and high school teams. River Hills Elementary won first place in the elementary division. In the middle school division, Moore Middle School (Mustangs) won first place. High school first-place winners included Robinson High School. Presenters called out coaches and principals accompanying the student teams during the ceremony.
Parham thanked students, coaches and administrators and noted many students were unable to attend because of simultaneous events such as athletic contests or senior nights. The board invited winners forward for photographs; no formal actions were taken on the item.
