Golden Isles Development Authority reports major industrial deals, workforce programs and site-development grants

Ryan Moore, representing the Golden Isles Development Authority, gave commissioners an update on April 15 that highlighted a string of economic-development activities in Glynn County, including industrial land sales, building starts and workforce programs.
Moore said the Buc-ee’s travel center at Exit 42 is nearly complete and three roundabouts in the DOT right of way are being finished. He said Hillpoint is building a roughly 500,000-square-foot warehouse on 55 acres formerly owned by the authority; about half the facility is expected to be occupied by a Hillpoint affiliate called ProDirect, with the other half speculative space.
Moore described multiple sales and new projects at McBride Industrial Park, including a roughly 100,000-square-foot expansion by Jared Par Systems and another 100,000-square-foot flexible-warehouse project on the remaining 10 developable acres. He said those projects took years of recruitment and used bond financing in part to keep a specialized manufacturing employer in Brunswick.
On workforce, Moore said the authority helped support an aviation pipeline with Wings of Grace and Job Corps; 13 students graduated in the first class and a future class of 40 AMT (aviation maintenance technician) students is planned with a $40,000 grant from Georgia Power. Moore also said the authority has invested more than $500,000 in small-business grants and entrepreneurship programs over five years.
On site readiness, Moore said the authority completed engineering and received state grading certification for a rural logistics park west of I-95 and secured a $2 million state rural site-development grant to fund two entrances and related roadway work; he said park engineering is underway and construction is expected to start within months.
Commissioners thanked Moore; no formal actions or votes were taken on the updates. Moore encouraged continued county support of site development and workforce partnerships.
