Commissioners assigned county emails; Captain Hall to retire April 18 with promotions likely to follow

Commission staff announced that each commissioner has been provided a county email address and that going forward commission business will be conducted through those accounts.
Staff noted differences in account management because commissioners are not county employees; IT indicated account passwords cannot be changed by commissioners. Staff provided to commissioners the expectation they will use the county email for commission business going forward.
The commission also heard that Captain Bridal Hall of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office will retire effective April 18. Staff said Chief Young will submit a letter requesting promotional testing for the vacancy, which is expected to generate promotional tests at the lieutenant, sergeant or corporal levels as applicable. Staff said they will prepare a recognition for Hall and invite him to the next meeting if available.
Commissioners said they will post future meeting notices and will monitor the promotional-exam scheduling that follows the retirement.
